Humphrey Threshold Visual Field Analyser 3 HFA 840
Your field of vision is every area that you can see with your eyes pointing straight ahead. A defective field of vision will cause problems when navigating around, especially when walking or driving. You can lose part or all of your visual field through many different ways including cataracts, glaucoma, strokes, circulatory disorders, neurological conditions, certain brain tumours and even smoking. It is therefore essential to have your visual field regularly assessed as many conditions, if caught early, can be treated.

Humphrey Threshold Visual Field Analysis 3
Our Humphrey Visual Field Analyser HFA 840 is considered the gold standard in advanced visual field testing and it carries the latest software for visual field analysis. Our machine is the 3rd generation visual field analyser and is a diagnostic visual field analyser rather than a screening visual field analyser like most visual field machines seen in routine high street practice. The HFA 840 available at Edgbaston Eye Clinic is equipped with a specialist software call the GPA (Guided Prognosis Analyser) which is a powerful tool for disease progression monitoring.
The Humphrey Visual Field Analyser HFA 840 can pick up even very subtle defects in your visual field by analysing each nerve pathway in detail. It is a neurological test. This allows for detection of problems. However, even a perfect visual field should regularly be measured as this provides an accurate individual baseline to monitor future changes from again allowing earlier diagnosis of problems.
Edgbaston Eye Clinic is the only private eye specialist clinic that is equipped with the Goldmann Visual Field. The Goldmann Visual Field test is a very important diagnostic tool in advanced glaucoma and in conditions such as in Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA). A CVA is commonly referred to as a ‘stroke’.
